Overview

Super-Shiritori is a custom Discord bot designed to run a smart and fun word game. It challenges players to continue a word chain where each new word starts with the last letter of the previous one. The bot includes special rules, unique gameplay modes, and comprehensive word tracking to keep things interesting.

Even though it’s actively maintained and improved, Super-Shiritori has always had its fair share of quirks, bugs, and glorious mishaps — just part of its charm.

💻 How It Works

Super-Shiritori is coded using:

• Programming Language(s): Python
• Libraries/Tools: Discord.py, Google Gemini
• Database: shiritori_dict.txt
• Hosting Method: Runs on a single old laptop owned by Kos (kos256) that is kept 24/7 (usually)

🔹 Multiplayer Shiritori Commands

Command	Description
/startshiritori [#channel]	Admin/Mod only (requires "Manage Messages" or Bot Owner). Starts a new multiplayer game in the chosen text channel. Posts the rules and a starting word. Only one game per channel.
/endshiritori	Admin/Mod only. Ends the current game and shows final stats: longest words, total words, and dictionary coverage.
/invite_ai	Adds an AI opponent with a random personality (e.g., NOOB, PRO, MIMIC, ASSASSIN). Only one AI per game.
/leaderboard [category] [visibility]	Shows server leaderboard by category: Longest Word, Turns Played, Hyphens, Apostrophes, Dictionary Completion. Visibility: Public or Private.
/mystats [visibility]	Shows your combined multiplayer stats across all servers: longest word, turns, hyphens, apostrophes, and dictionary completion.

🔸 Solo Shiritori Commands

/soloshiritori	Starts a solo Shiritori game against an adaptive AI in a private thread. Ends on a mistake, repeat, or 5 minutes of inactivity. Stats contribute to solo and global records.
/solostats [visibility]	Shows your solo stats: level, longest word, turns played, hyphen/apostrophe use, and dictionary coverage.
/sololeaderboard [sort_by] [visibility]	Global solo leaderboard. Sort by: Longest Word, Turns Played, Dictionary Completion.

💣 Word Bomb Commands

Command	Description
/wordbomb [bombspeed] [starting_range]	Starts a Word Bomb game in the current channel. Players join via buttons. Bomb Speed: Slow, Standard, Fast, Rapid. You can set a starting word bucket (e.g., Guaranteed, Exotic, Mythic). Max 16 players.
/wordbombstats [visibility]	Shows your personal Word Bomb stats: games played, wins, turns, average word length, and total characters.
/wordbombleaderboard [category] [visibility]	Displays the server Word Bomb leaderboard. Categories: Games Played, Wins, Turns Played, Avg Word Length, Total Characters. Visibility: Public or Private.

🧠 Wordle Commands

Command	Description
/wordle [game_length] [mode] [include_hyphens]	Starts a private Wordle game in a new thread. Length: 5–18 letters. Modes: Standardized (6 tries) or Full Dictionary (8 tries). Can toggle hyphen allowance. Ends on win, loss, or 3-minute inactivity.
/wordlestats [visibility]	Displays your Wordle win streaks by length and mode.
/wordleleaderboard [game_length] [mode] [visibility]	Shows top 10 Wordle players by win streak. Filter by length and mode.

🆙 Leveling & Titles

Command	Description
/level [visibility]	Shows your level, EXP progress, and next-level goal.
/levelsleaderboard [visibility]	Displays top 10 users by level on this server.
/set_title [title]	Sets your title (visible in leaderboards/stats). You can only use unlocked titles. Use None to clear. Autocomplete supported.

/check [word(s)]	Validates up to 15 words. Returns ✅ or ❌ based on dictionary presence.
/characters [words] [private?]	Shows character count for up to 20 words. Optionally private.
/solve [prompt] [contains?] [exact_length?] [sorting?] [limit?]	Word-finder tool. Filters by starting letters, length, and sorting (longest/shortest). Limit: 1–500 results.

/dictionaries [dictionary_name]	Checks which words you've used from special lists (e.g., Blacklist, Phobias, Ologies, Numbers).
/wordhunt [mode]	Generates a personal challenge of 15 unused words. Modes: Multiplayer or Solo Hunt. Refreshes after 12h or completion.
/suggest [word(s)]	Suggests 1–1001 new words for the main dictionary. Gives feedback on duplicates/invalid entries.
/define [word]	AI-assisted definition with pronunciation. Not guaranteed accurate—based on common usage.

⚙️ Behind the Scenes

• Uptime Manager: Kos (on Discord)

• This bot has been in development for over three years, originally starting with a curated list from the OMG Community. Later, a friend contributed a massive list of 320,000 words, which became the foundation. Over time, the dictionary grew steadily—scraping terms from reputable sources like Merriam-Webster and Oxford, as well as expanding through:
  • Acronyms
  • Word suggestions from users
  • Foreign language entries
  • Constructed languages (conlangs)
  • And countless unique additions

• Today, the word bank includes over 1,000,000 entries, making it one of the largest Shiritori-focused word lists known. It’s intentionally kept private to protect its integrity and uniqueness.

• There’s no anti-cheat system the only enforced mechanic is checking whether a word has been used before. Players are free to use external tools like Google or dictionaries, though it’s encouraged to play without them for a more rewarding and educational experience.

• At its core, this game is about learning, exploration, and having fun with language.
