🟢 Multiplayer Shiritori

Challenge friends, summon wild AIs, and build the longest chain of words you can—one letter at a time.

🔓 Getting Started

To launch a game in any text channel:

  • A server Admin or Moderator (with the Manage Messages permission) must use: /startshiritori [#channel]
  • The bot will post the rules and automatically generate the starting word.
  • Only one active game is allowed per channel at a time.

🎮 How to Play

Multiplayer Shiritori follows classic word-chain rules with a few twists:

  1. Your word must start with the last letter of the previous word.
  2. No repeats! Reusing any word ends the game immediately.
  3. Words are checked against the bot’s massive internal dictionary, which includes:
    • Standard dictionary entries
    • Hyphenated words
    • Acronyms and abbreviations
    • Some conlang and obscure entries (Use /check to validate a word before playing if you're unsure.)
  4. No back-to-back turns. After your move, someone else must go before you play again.
  5. Try for longer, more unique words! The leaderboard rewards creativity and endurance.

🤖 AI Opponents

  • Add an AI opponent using: /invite_ai
  • AIs are assigned random personalities, each with distinct strategies:
    • NOOB, ROOKIE, AVERAGE, PRO, VOWELLESS, PASTER, NUMBERPHILE, PALINDROMIC, MINIMALIST, ASSASSIN, SNIPER
  • AI will leave if no one plays for about 5 minutes.

🧠 Special AI Summons

Want to spice things up?

  • !snipe – Attempt to summon the Sniper AI (20% success).
  • !assassin – Risk summoning the Assassin AI (40% success). Failing may silence you for 30 turns...
  • Other AI can be manually summoned using quick commands like !noob, !pro, !mimic, etc.

Each has unique quirks, cooldowns, and sometimes even unlocks special titles.

🛑 Ending a Game

A game session can end in several ways:

  • A repeated word is played
  • A valid word cannot be found
  • The game is manually ended using: /endshiritori

After ending, the bot will display a summary of the game (top words, stats, etc.) and may automatically restart after a cooldown period of 2 minutes unless ended by a admin.

⚠️ Tips & Etiquette

  • Play fair. While Googling isn’t blocked, the spirit of the game is about vocabulary skill and creativity.
  • Use !status to check current game progress, average word length, and the next required letter.
  • Be respectful when using obscure or mature words remember your server's rules.
